1.Museums are all about highlighting important information that the public should know. As a museum communicator you should utilize this knowledge to your advantage when creating your event. Know what makes your museum unique and use it to your strength. For example, do you have a unique location with an interesting history, or a one-of-a-kind artifact to display and share? Be able to communicate why your museum is important.

2.Everyone loves a fun theme - Life in adulthood is boring…. who doesn't want to dress up for an exciting theme for an event. If you're a history museum, hold a renaissance themed party with patrons dressing up in their finest regalia. If you're at an art museum- dress as your favorite artist night! It creates a fun opportunity for museum go-ers to feel more part of the museum, while also creating amazing

memories and photo opportunities. Be sure to include a photo booth, if the budget allows for it perhaps a fun professional one, but if not an armature photographer with an on theme background will work just as well. People will surely want to post their costume on their social media leading to free earned media for your event.

3.Dont underestimate a witty hashtag- In the social media age, you simply cannot put on a large event without a catchy hashtag. Many people have hashtags for events like bar mitzvahs, weddings, trips, and birthday parties. So why wouldn't your event have one too! Creating a hashtag that promotes your museum and event is vital to get the word out about your event.

4. Know your audience- Be sure when you are creating your event you keep in mind who your audience is that you are trying to reach. If you are having an event for kids, be sure that everything is kid friendly, and something children will enjoy. If your event is for your average museum goer, be sure to look at your museums demographics to be sure the event will be pleasurable for your most loyal attendees.

5. Have fun with it! - Lastly, just be sure to make your event memorable and exciting for all who attend. If you have fun while planning your event people will feel that energy and have fun as well. Museums foster creativity making them the perfect place to plan and host events for!
